Corinna Dentoni: The Beauty of Simple Things

Corinna Dentoni: The Beauty of Simple Things

Professional sport is often associated with results, rankings and trophies. Yet behind every career, there is a person shaped by years of dedication, discipline and constant growth.

Corinna Dentoni spent many years competing at the highest level of tennis, experiencing both the rewards and the challenges that come with elite competition. Like every athlete, her journey has been about much more than what happened on the court.

For MenStatus, this conversation is not simply about tennis. It is about the experiences that shape character, the lessons that remain long after competition, and the importance of staying true to yourself through every stage of life.

We spoke with Corinna about discipline, balance, authenticity and the values that continue to guide her today. The result is an honest conversation that goes beyond sport and offers a more personal perspective on life, growth and what truly matters.

  • Looking back on your career, what do you feel tennis has given you beyond the results and trophies?

Tennis has taught me how beautiful it can be to work hard and fight for something you truly want and love. It has given me the opportunity to travel the world, discover new places and meet people from completely different cultures. It has opened my eyes to many different realities and ways of life.

Beyond the results and the trophies, tennis has given me experiences that have shaped the person I am today. It has taught me that the journey itself, with all its challenges, is often just as important as the final result.

  • Professional sport demands discipline from a very young age. How has that discipline influenced the way you approach everyday life today?

It has influenced me enormously. I have become a much more determined and disciplined person, and those qualities have stayed with me in every area of my life.

Sport has also taught me to take care of myself. I genuinely enjoy being active, spending time outdoors, eating healthily and trying different sports and activities. I think the lifestyle of an athlete has become part of who I am, not just something I did during my professional career.

  • You’ve experienced both victories and difficult moments throughout your journey. Which experiences have taught you the most about yourself?

Both the victories and the difficult moments have taught me a great deal. I have cried a lot and laughed a lot throughout my career, and every experience has left something with me.

Looking back, however, I think I remember most the matches that made me feel truly proud of myself. Not necessarily because I won, but because I knew I had given everything I had and had overcome something difficult. Those moments taught me a lot about my strength and about the person I am when I refuse to give up.

  • In a world where people often feel pressure to constantly prove themselves, what does confidence mean to you today?

I believe that learning to believe in yourself is essential when facing the pressures of society and the expectations of others. It took me time to truly understand that.

Today, I know my value. I know who I am and what I want, and that gives me a great sense of peace. I no longer feel that I constantly need to prove myself to everyone. For me, real confidence is knowing yourself, accepting yourself and being comfortable with the person you have become.

  • When you’re away from competition and public attention, what are the simple things that help you feel grounded and genuinely happy?

I love spending time with my family and my animals. I have always loved simplicity, and I believe that some of the greatest happiness in life can be found in the smallest things.

For me, a perfect day could be a beautiful breakfast, a morning spent doing sport, and an afternoon by the sea watching a beautiful sunset. I truly believe that beauty is often found in simple moments, when you are able to slow down and appreciate where you are.

  • Travel has been an important part of your life. Has there been a place or a culture that has left a lasting impression on you?

Japan left a very strong impression on me. I was fascinated by the culture, the discipline and the way people approach so many aspects of life with such attention and respect.

At the same time, I have to say that I am deeply in love with Miami. I adore the city because of its energy, its international atmosphere and its cosmopolitan character. It feels like a place where people from so many different backgrounds come together, and I really love that.

  • Many people admire athletes for their determination, but what personal quality do you hope people remember you for beyond tennis?

I would like people to remember me as someone who is always positive, warm and generous.

I have been fortunate in many ways in my life, and I have always felt that when you have the opportunity to help someone who has not had the same opportunities, you should do it. I also love bringing happiness and positive energy to people, even when they are going through a difficult time.

If I can make someone smile or bring a little light to someone’s day, that means a lot to me.

  • Finally, what does a meaningful and well-lived life look like to you today?

Today, teaching tennis gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction. I love sharing my experience with other people and seeing them improve, gain confidence and discover their own passion for the sport.

Looking ahead, I would also love to meet someone with whom I can share my life and build a family. I hope that one day I will be able to pass on my passions to my children, as well as the importance of working hard and fighting for their dreams.

For me, a meaningful life is about doing what you love, surrounding yourself with people who truly matter to you, continuing to grow and having the courage to pursue the things that make you happy.
