Franco Mazzetti: The Quiet Art of Defining Style

There are men who follow style, and there are those who quietly define it. Franco Mazzetti belongs to the latter.

Rooted in the timeless elegance of Florence, his presence reflects something increasingly rare, a balance between aesthetic awareness and personal discipline. His approach to style is not performative, nor driven by trends. Instead, it is shaped by experience, cultural depth, and an understanding that true elegance begins long before the choice of clothing.

In a world that often confuses visibility with substance, Mazzetti represents a different rhythm, one where restraint, consistency, and character form the foundation of personal expression. This conversation is not about garments.
It is about identity, presence, and the quiet intelligence behind the way a man chooses to exist.

  • In a time where visibility often replaces substance, what does it mean to be a gentleman today?

To be a gentleman today means not feeling the need to be constantly seen. I come from a world where recognition arrived slowly, almost as a consequence. Now everything is immediate, but often empty. I still believe that what you are, in the long run, speaks louder than what you show.

  • Do you believe elegance is more about what one chooses to remove rather than what one adds?

Yes, and I learned that with time. When you are younger, you tend to add, to demonstrate. At a certain point, you realize that too much attention to detail often reveals a kind of insecurity. Today, I trust more what I leave out than what I put in.

  • How has your perception of style evolved over the years, and what have you consciously left behind?

I have left behind the need to be noticed. Not completely, because we all like a certain appreciation, but it is no longer the purpose. Style, for me, has become something quieter. Less about showing knowledge, more about feeling at ease in what I wear.

  • Sprezzatura is often misunderstood. For you, is it an aesthetic choice or a way of living?

For me, it is something that cannot be chased. I never thought about it while getting dressed. It comes naturally when you stop overthinking. If you try to recreate it, it becomes something else, something a bit artificial.

  • Can true style exist without discipline and self-awareness?

No. And I would add patience. Style is not built in a season. It takes years of mistakes, adjustments, and observations. Without discipline, you change too often. Without self-awareness, you end up dressing like someone else.

  • How do you maintain authenticity in a world that constantly reproduces and imitates images?

By staying slightly detached. I don’t feel the need to follow everything I see. I have my references, my habits, my way of doing things. If something resonates, I observe it. If not, I let it pass. Not everything deserves your attention.

  • Beyond clothing, what are the invisible elements that define a man’s presence?

The way he listens. The way he waits. The way he enters a room without trying to dominate it. These are things you cannot fake. Clothes can help, but they cannot replace substance.

  • If you had to define elegance not as appearance but as a way of being, how would you describe it?

Elegance, to me, is a form of calm confidence. It is not about being perfect, but about being at peace with your imperfections. When a man reaches that point, everything he does becomes more natural, and that is where elegance begins.
